About the Mirror Driver
Files2Phones uses the Microsoft Mirror Driver as part of its technology for remote application control from the iPhone and iPod touch. It is called the hotComm Mirror Driver.
Image changes are fast, because they are determined by comparing screen activity with a mirror copy of the screen.
The Mirror Driver is installed automatically as part of the F2P Server installation. Because it is installed as a device driver, we are providing information about manually instsalling or uninstalling in this article, should you need to do so.
An "MD" icon on the bottom line of your F2P Server window shows the Mirror Driver status.
| Icon |
Description |
 |
Mirror Driver is loaded (gray icon). |
 |
Mirror Driver is installed and active (blue icon). |
| (no icon) |
Mirror Driver is not installed. |
Vista note: In Windows Vista, you run a special version of the F2P Server, the f2pMD.exe executable, which launches the F2P Loader with Run as Administrator to load the Mirror Driver and then start the usual Files2Phones executable (f2p.exe) normally. Vista may ask for permission to launch the F2P Loader. During installation on a Vista computer, your F2P desktop shortcut and your Windows Start menu entries are configured to launch the F2P Loader.
To see the setting on the desktop icon, right-click the icon and select Properties, then click the Advanced button on the Shortcut tab, and you'll see that Run As Administrator is checked.
